What can Samuel Aranda’s 2011 World Press Photo of the Year tell us about how we view photojournalism? What does the debate prompted by Aranda’s winning photograph tell us about the conventional way of understanding such images?
I both analyse visual storytelling and produce new visual stories. I'm especially interested in the storytelling we know as documentary photography and photojournalism. I look at the opportunities 'multimedia' brings, the disruption in the new media economy, as well as the challenges of international politics. My main aim is to provide the context.
